9 Reviews of Cranberry Orange Oats

I reduced the dried cranberries to 1/4 cup, just out of personal preference. Served this with a dollop of plain yogurt and a light drizzle of honey. Just delicious. I loved the creaminess created by the oat bran. One of my barometers for a great recipe is that it inspires me to think new ways to vary the orginal — for example using a combination of cranberries and apricots. Good thing I eat oatmeal most days, 'cause I'm looking forward to this one again and all the variations.

reat "fill 'em up" breakfast recipe that will keep you going the whole day. I would say that contrary to the description, this recipe probably WILL wow your taste buds, especially if you add some brown sugar on top. It works so well with the orange juice. I had to add quite a bit more water to soften up the oat bran but maybe mine is just a different kind. No matter. After adding another 2/3 cup water it was perfect. A few days after I first reviewed this recipe I tried it at work in the microwave. It worked great this way as well and didn't seem to need the extra water in the microwave. You do need to watch it to make sure it doesn't boil over. I would cook and stir in 20-30 second intervals, depending on how powerful your microwave is. Mine is pretty powerful (an industrial one at work) and only took 1 minute but in a normal microwave you might need closer to 2 minutes.

Delicious! The combination or orange juice and cranberries is wonderful and really livens up the oatmeal. The added healthfulness of oat bran ia a great idea. Portion size is generous. Yummy when topped with a bit of dark brown sugar. I scaled this down to one serving..if you do this please note that the Zaar calculator is not accurate for this recipe (the computer gets confused when it halves 1/3). Thanks, Paula, for sharing your recipe!

It is "breakfast by Paula G" 2 days in a row here at my house! Alas and alack I was out of oat bran so I had to use wheat bran. The texture on that is thicker then oat bran so my texture was a bit off, but that was as a result of my substitution not the recipe. The taste on this is mellow and lovely. It would be a great fall treat. I added a little splenda to mine and my daughter had a little orange flavored honey. Nice healthy breakfast.

I'm not a great lover of cooked cereal but this I loved! I made a half recipe just for myself and topped it with maple syrup. I will definitely make this again and maybe try it with other dried fruits instead of the cranberries. Thanks for sharing this!

This is delicious! I have tried straight hot oatbran before and just didn't like it as much as oatmeal. I love how this recipe combines oatbran and oatmeal which creates a creamy oatmeal-like texture. 1 serving was too much for me so I gave about 1/4 to my dad who enjoyed it as well. I did have to add a bit more water which was no big deal. I really liked the orange cranberry combo with the little bit of spice. Thanks PaulaG!!!!

Well, Paula, I disagree with your statement about wowing the tastebuds. It wowed mine! I loved it. I did double the amount of cardamom, though. One of my favorite flavors. This was the perfect quick breakfast on Thanksgiving morning. I used some Agave Nectar for the sweetener.

I made this for brekkie this morning for my 20 mth old daughter & I. I really enjoyed this, it was creamy and sweet all by itself. I used half milk, half water with the orange juice for cooking for a creamier texture. I thought the addition of oatbran was a great idea. Unfortunately my DD didn't agree, she likes her plain porridge
