Wow, these taste so much like Cracker Barrel's! I even used pumpkin pie spice (which I didn't realize until I was on the final step..oops!), and they still tasted like the restaurant's fried apples! These were a nice treat to have with our dinner...thanks! Edited to add this tip: I didn't feel like digging my blender out, so I simply whisked those ingredients together, and that worked just fine.

I cooked the apples for 20 minutes. For the spice mix I used 1 teaspoon cinnamon,1/2 nutmeg grated, and 1/2 teaspoon cardamom. I use my vanilla sugar. Flavored Sugars Flavored Sugar or Splenda. These apples would be great on anything from ice cream to a pork roast.

I used 1 tsp cinnamon in place of apple pie spice.I whisked together,no blender required.Mixed apples into thick sauce and served as a side dish with ham for dinner. These apples go very well with pork.Nice flavor, not overly sweet..I will make these again. In place of the usual cranberries...Leftover apples?Updated: I have used leftover apples for dessert crepes #52553. They make a wonderful dessert crepe. I used 3 slices per crepe and sprinkled with chopped pecans 1tblsp.and rolled seam down , placed in greased 13x9.Baked for 10-14 minutes at 375..Served with vanilla sauce.1c water.1/2 cup sugar,2 tsp vanilla,1 tblsp cornstarch,2 tblsp butter.pinch of salt. Boil to thicken..Waste not want not...

We are huge fans of Cracker Barrel apples! When I first made up the apples according to the recipe....only exception was that I used cinnamon instead of the apple pie spice....I felt like it was close but something was missing. At first I thought they needed a little more sugar. Instead I added 1/3 cup of margarine to the mixture and it was RIGHT ON! The texture and flavor was identical to Cracker Barrel's apples! Thank you for this recipe!!!!

These are wonderful, Paula! I love the idea of cooking the apples in apple juice. I made as directed using Apple Pie Spice for the spice as I did not have any on hand. I will be making again!

This recipe is a dead ringer for the Cracker Barrel fried apples. At first I was a little concerned about not peeling the skin from the apples but the golden delicious apples have a very thin skin and so it worked out fine. I very much recommend this recipe.

As a former waitress at Cracker Barrel, I know all about the delicious fried apples and this recipe is a perfect match! I followed the recipe exactly and came out with the exact same taste that Cracker Barrel is known for with their scrumptious fried apples! Thank you for posting this wonderful recipe! Definetly a keeper!

I took this recipe and mass produced it to can ... ended up freezing it. I used 16 cups apples and then tripled the juice and sauce mixture. It is very good ... it does taste a bit like apple pie filling and not very sweet. Which I think is due to the fact that I made my own juice. I have a year old and it is perfect for her and my husband who don't care much for sweets.

This was chowed down by everyone. I didn't have apple pie spice so I found one on here like the others to use. I made the apples with Apple Pancakes What a great combination! Thank you!
