I know some people say beans don't belong in chili but, I LOVE beans in my chili and, so, I loved this chili with all it's beans. I made this as is, though I halved the jalapeno, chili powder and cayenne to appease my husband's stomach. Turned out perfect for us and all gave 5 *'s except for my husband, who says he prefers my old, boring chili...too bad, this is getting 5 from the rest of us! Next time I'm using 2 cans of black beans, only because I LOVE black beans. This was great with corn bread. Thanks KelBel, I'll be making this again...whenever I want that wonderful aroma of black beans in my house

Thanks for this GREAT recipe! I made it last night for our church's 3rd annual chili cook off and came in 2nd place! I used Bison as my meat and it was really wonderful. I love the warmth of this chili! The spices are right on. I also used only the black beans. Delicious!

I used all red kidney beans but other than that made like the recipe says, and it was well received by my whole family! The guys went back for 3rds!!! I used mild Rotel tomatoes, and it gave it lots of nice flavor without adding to the heat, so some of us that don't like real hot food. We will have this again and soon according to the tribe! Into my favorites it's going so I know right where it is!

This recipe was perfect! It was the right portion, the right amount of spice. I added a few more spices to it like garlic and onion powder, sugar, cinnamon, and a tad more salt and it made it taste amazing. Everyone else was right, stick to all black beans.

This was excellent! I followed the recipe, submitted the chili into our Church's chili cook off, and won first place! There were 25 othere pots of chili to contend with and this is a winner! Thank you!

Great Chili! I made it with ground turkey and tripled the recipe. I also used only black beans. The taste is outstanding and the heat was just right. This is a keeper! Thanks

This was fantastic and very different than the regular chilli I throw together. I think it was the addition of cumin, which I only added 1 Tlb instead of 2, just personal preference. I also used 1 lb. of ground beef and 1 lb. of ground pork just to see what would happen, plus, we like LOTS of meat. Everything else was made as directed. It was quite spicy but since I have a hard time chewing Big Red gum because it numbs my mouth, I am not a good judge in that respect. But with that said, I even loved it...and it is quite different from my regular can of chilli beans and beef and such that I usually make. I have a chilli cook off at work in a few weeks...I might actually enter this year!! Thanks so much for the great recipe!

Best chili recipe I have ever used! I get so many compliments and it is so easy to make. Great "base" recipe should you want to play around with the ingredients (for instance, I added habanero peppers because I love it spicy). I even made it with tofu "ground beef" once and it was still tasty.

Absolutely award winning chilli, and one taste you will realize it too! Couldn't of been easier, and perfect balance of flavors. I used a fresh medium sized jalapeno pepper, but other then that, followed this exactly. No need to add or subtract here, just add a piece of cornbread or two. I only had black beans so I used this. How wonderful! Thank you KelBel! January 2009.
