ok i tried this again because i am trying to go a week wihtout eating any junkfood. i needed something sweet so i went to this. i altered the recipe just a bit,and it came out A LOT better then it did the first time i did it. so first, get around 2 teaspoons of molasses and put it in a cup. then, fill the cup 1/8 to 1/4 full with hot water just to dissove/ liquidize the molasses. after that, add milk at least half way up the cup. then just keep pouring and trying till you get your ideal taste. for me i had to pour the milk until the cup was 3/4 way full and it was PERFECT. really really really good, and an awesome substitute for sweetened coffee.. plus ITS HEALTHY!!

Oh Roosie, this was so good!I'm so glad I picked this for Recipe Dare! I used to buy cereal type coffee(Roma), but it's expensive. This is nutritous, delicious, and easy to make! I used regular whole milk this time, but will make this regularly with soy milk for a healthy morning drink. Thanks!

I thought this was pretty rustic tasting and had a nutty type flavor. It smelled especially wonderful (though the taste did not quite live up to the smell). My husband thought it was "so-so" and my 2 year old spit it back into the mug! This won't become a regular thing for me, but it was pretty good and might be occasional. I used more like 1/3 rd of a cup of skim milk which was a fine proportion for me. Thanks for another neat one Roosie!

I made this today because I have some molasses I need to use up. My 3 yr old took a sip and said it was yucky but I liked it. Tasted like a "lite" version of coffe..Will make again

We have snow on the ground and I remembered that I saved this recipe to try one day. Today is that day. I enjoyed this quite a bit. I used a mild flavored molasses and skim milk. I will try it with vanilla flavored soy milk next time. Thanks for sharing!

Now I am a kid so I will give my opnion on this drink. I loved it!! However it isn't very sweet and you have to like molasses to enjoy it. I loved the smell preparing it, and the taste afterwards too! Besides, my favorite show is Gilmore Girls and they always drink coffee, so now I can have something to enjoy when I get one of those cravings!(Which means I will be drinking this alot!) Also, the milk gives it that "coffee colour" Thanks for this recipe Roosie!

This is an interesting drink. It isn't quite coffee...isn't quite tea...not hot cocoa...it has a flavor all its own. I haven't been feeling well, but am tired of plain old tea. I love the molasses tang of gingersnaps and spice cakes, and thought that this would be worth a try. It was very good and comforting on my tender tummy. I think that preparing it with a spiced tea (instead of just boiling water) would be lovely, also.

I made this for my 2 boys. Ds#1 didn't care much for it, but ds#2 loved it! He's the picky one who won't usually try new things. He has now decided that he likes molasses. Thank-you for another discovery!

When I ran across this I was so intrigued I dropped everying and to try it. It didn't hurt that I was freeeeeeezing at the moment. What a nice alternative to other hot drinks. I used just the regular skim milk I had on hand and it was great.
