I have tried many soup recipe’s and they are almost always too bland. I’m sure my hubby was thinking he was going to have to suffer through another soup trial. Amazingly the first thing out of his mouth was MMMMMMM!! I agree this is YUMMY- thanks!

Oh my Jill4man! This was fantabulous. I can't remember the night I made a soup that my DH AND kids said..."DO NOT LOSE THIS RECIPE!!" This is such a keeper. I've always been a fan of creamy tortilla soups, but this tomato base soup is super. I had to make some minor changes, based on ingredients on hand; didn't have Anaheims (my fav!) at the store, so I subbed with 2 poblanos. I threw in some extra garlic, cause I'm a garlicaholic. I had two huge beef-steak tomatoes and used them instead of the amount called for, I think it ended up an even deal. We also used sliced black olives and some pickled jalepenos for garnish. Totally delectable! I am totally thrilled, DH is so darn picky, half the time I hate to cook for him, such a food snob! This is absolutely a keeper. The lime, avacado, and sour cream are a must! Also garnished with some sliced green onions. Served with tortilla chips on the side, pico de gallo, and homemade queso. Thank you, Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!

This realy is the best Chicken Tortilla Soup ever! The only thing I will do different next time is to make a double batch. I used 1 Anaheim pepper and left out the jalapeno and chipotle because my DH can't take too much heat, but it was still pleasantly spicy for our tastes. I made it on the stove and let it simmer for an hour and it got nice and thick and rich. Great recipe Jill4man!

I think I'm addicted! I got hooked on Chicken Tortilla Soup when I first had it at the Tejas restaurant here in Mpls. Another garnish idea from Tejas: thinly sliced (or julienned) zucchini (uncooked). Sounds weird but adds a wonderful, subtle taste and adds even more color, texture and nutrition to this excellent soup. Thanks!

Add me to the list of fans. I lost my original soup recipe and was disappointed that I couldn't find it but decided to try this instead. WOW ! It is better than the last one. My husband said this was the BEST soup he's ever had. I made my own tortilla crunchies by thinly slicing some corn tortillas, covering with PAM and lawrys seasoning and baking in the oven. They were great too. Thanks for my new favorite recipe.

Excellent !! Made this soup one night, but served it the next. I think it may have even given the soup a chance to develop its flavors. You MUST use all the garnishes, it really makes the dish ! Thank you so much for a wonderful soup recipe.

I was dying to try this but I knew it would be too spicy for the kids
So, I made it for a pot luck lunch yesterday and what a hit. I someone come up to me tonight and tell me she was sorry she missed the pot luck because everyone was raving about the soup. Thanks Jill for the booste to my reputation. The house smelled like salsa. Definately use the chipotle tabasco sauce. Yum.

This soup is very good and very flavorful. I think next time I might add black beans and corn. I thought the soup was a little tin and added cornstarch to thicken it a bit. Excellent tasting soup.
