This is a great recipe. Actually tastes better than Panda Express. Family absolutely loves this dish. Definitely need to double the recipe for the orange sauce.

I adjusted this recipe to please my 14-year-old. I only used 1/2 tsp minced ginger root instead of 1 T. For the Orange Sauce I used 1 1/2 T soy sauce, 1 1/2 T orange juice, 4 T sugar, 5 T white vinegar, orange zest to taste. I also serve it with toasted sesame seeds on top as it is done in the fine dining restos in New York City.

This is one of the best recipes I have ever tried. It is so delicious. I had a little trouble finding the rice wine at the store- it ended up being with the oriental cooking supplies and it is called AJI-MIRIN sweet cooking wine. I also used McCormick crushed red pepper in the spices aisle- not sure if that is what this is calling for but it worked fine. It has become our Halloween night tradition to make this dish. It is a little time consuming to make- so leave yourself plenty of time. I actually prefer this to Panda Express actual Orange Chicken. This has a really nice flavor with a little kick to it. I make mine in a frying pan because I don't own a wok and it works great. We serve it with rice and store bought pot stickers. TRY IT! You will not be dissapointed!

I was using a similar orange chicken recipe, but after my BF went to Panda Express he said something was missing in my recipe. This recipe has more of tang (the vinegar - I used rice wine vinegar). He loves orange chicken and told me that he loves this recipe. I did omit the orange zest and replaced with orange juice. Great recipe!

This is actually very similar to Panda's orange chicken. My husband loved it and so did I. I made some necessary modifications; I used low sodium soy sauce (a must). Also, I used brown sugar and used only 4 tablespoons instead of 5. The sauce was not enough for the chicken, so I doubled the amounts. A little corn starch slurry is required to thicken the sauce before adding the chicken. It turned out awesome. Another thing I have to mention, it it is the most delicious dish I have ever made in less that 20 minutes including preparation!!

This is SO SO SO good. Looking for a version of this recipe, we came across lots of much more complicated ones with lots of hard to find ingredients. But who needs all that with this recipe. A delicious, tangy orange chicken made with easy-to-find ingredients. Not an exact copy of the Panda Express, but... who cares? Hubby and I think it might be even better than theirs. Just a note- also tried this w/out breading and frying the chicken. Used sauteed chicken, carrots, peppers, and onions for a heart-healthy version that was just wonderful!

WOOOOOWWWWW I was sooo impressed with this recipe! Chinese food has always been my forte, and this just blew me away. Really tangy and flavorful. I really suggest doubling the sauce (except for the zest)(and yes, it will be a lot of sugar). I also like to thicken the sauce and add the chicken at the last minute to preserve the crispiness. I'm always hesitant to serve any other dishes with this because they pale in comparison. Although the recipe says serves 6, my boyfriend and I can finish most of it by ourselves. If you want to feed a family, use more chicken! YUM!

i really liked this recipe as the chicken comes out crisp like it does at panda express. for the people who doubled the sauce, wow. i know i didn't use exact measurements and wound up with more than was specified, so mine was just a little goopy. next time i will do what is listed. also, for future users of this recipe, when you mix the egg cornstarch and flour together, it will be crubly (made me think, well how is this going to work). you didn't do it wrong, it will stick!!

Outstanding!! I love really ORANGE orange chicken, so substituted orange juice for all of the water. I also used all cornstarch and no flour to make it gluten free. Other than that, followed the recipe. We'll definitely be making this again! UPDATED to add: we've made this many many times now. My celiac stepdaughter is thrilled that I can make this gluten free. Orange chicken is one of the foods she's really missed since being diagnosed as gluten intolerant. This is definitely one of our family favorites.

I have been making many dishes from recipeZaar but this was the Best ever. A home run for the whole family. I was surprised at how strong the sesame oil was if you are not a fan skip this. I took the advice given and doubled the sauce. I now think this is a must. Enjoy.
