Wow, these make some huge rolls! They were so pretty & fluffy. I did use the dough cycle on my bread machine to mix them up...less work
and then portioned into 12 rolls in a muffin tin to bake in the oven. Thank you for posting a recipe I will use again.

Holy Smokes, these are fantastic rolls ... thrown, or not! I wouldn't change a thing, personally ... Mine came out pretty just like Sue L's photo, and they were a perfect addition to a Sunday fried chicken dinner. Thanks for sharing, KC ... Be my pleasure to make these anytime! Laudee

I never had Lambert's rolls, but had heard of how wonderful they were. I always wanted to stop in, but time passed, and then I moved away, so now it isn't likely. So how wonderful it was to find this recipe and try them at long last, and let me tell you that making this easy recipe is much better than hopping in the car for an 8 hour drive! LOL I did get 18 rolls out of this, but that is no problem (my dough may have been shaped small), and they rise nicely no matter what size they are. I served these with fresh herb butter and they were just fantastic! Thanks for posting!

Wow, I have never made rolls from scratch before! This was great and they turned out sooo beautiful. This is how I altered this recipe to fit my ingredients: I didn't have a package of yeast, so I used 2 and 1/4 teaspoons of yeast for the breadmaker, and Gold Medal 'Better for Bread' flour. I used my Bread Machine and added the ingredients starting with the warm milk, melted butter, sugar, beaten egg and salt; then, I added the 4 cups of bread flour. Next, I made an indentation in the flour and poured the yeast mixture into it. Set my bread machine for 'dough' and let it go until after it had risen the first time. I punched the dough down, took it out and made the round shapes for the pan. I made sure I had plenty of flour on my fingers while shaping the rolls. This recipe actually made 13 'extremely' large rolls that were absolutely delicious! I think next time, though, I will make 26 rolls by making the shapes smaller. Baking time was perfect. I brushed butter on the top of the rolls after they came out of the oven for flavor, but it is optional. Thank you for making my day!

Sue L's photos inspired me to make these the very day I first saw the photo. These baked up so smooth and yummy. My two toddlers have been stealing them since they came out of the oven. The only thing that was an oops was my fault. I used unsalted butter, so I should have added extra salt. They have a marvelous flavor and are very easy to make. I'll try brushing the tops with melted butter for the last couple of mins next time, or brushing them with butter right out of the oven. These rolls are hard to stop eating.

Delicious!! These rolls raised beautifully. They are huge (just like at Lambert's). I think I am going to make them with more sugar, as Lambert's rolls seem a little sweeter. I am planning to make these rolls for our church Thanksgiving/Christmas dinner and am working to make 150 of them. Definitely good enough to share with everyone!!!

I made this recipe exactly as written with no deviations. These are some of the best rolls that I have ever had the pleasure of making and eating. They are light and airy with a bit of chewiness. I sprayed the outside of the rolls with water before I placed them in the oven so the they would form a nice crust. The only thing that I will do differently next time is to increase the salt to 1 1/2 teaspoons, as they were just on the edge of tasting like they had no salt at all. I mixed 2 tablespoons of butter with 1 tablespoon of honey; melting it in the microwave for 15 seconds and mixed well. I brushed the honey butter on the rolls as soon as they came out of the oven. These rolls really are to die for and I plan on adding them to my Thanksgiving table 2008!

Great roll recipe. This was my first attempt at homemade rolls and it was a smashing success. We had company over and they raved as well. Thanks so much for sharing!

We loved these! There were easy to make and looked so picture perfect. I must have rolled my pieces smaller than the recipe said because I had enough dough to make 12 regular muffin tins and 9 of the mini muffin tins which was perfect because the kids loved the mini buns. I will make these again, thanks for sharing the recipe!
