I've been doing this for years; it's a wonderful trick! I usually add a few pieces of orange peel, too. And when you're done with it, you can whiz it down the garbage disposal to freshen up the sink! ;o)

I always do this and it is great! I also add some orange peel that I peel off an orange with a potato peeler! Smells like you have been baking all day!

This is a wonderful blend. A five star winner. The fragrance when this is simmering makes your home seem so warm and inviting. Along with the pot on the stove I have a large Crockpot simmering on the lower level as well. I have that on a timer and fill daily. And yes one should change it weekly. I too add the extras that happen to be on hand, be it lemon, ginger, orange or a variety of spices.

I love this recipe - when I started doing this a couple of years ago, my mother-in-law was so impressed that she started doing it too! Thanks to the reviewers who added the idea about the orange peel — nice!

Has a nice scent, but the amount of spices used is very small, and it doesn't give off the amount of scent a simmering potpourri should. I added a lot more of each spice, as well as tossing in some star anise and a little bit of vanilla. Adding oils to this would be good as well, as that enhances the scent of the spices used. Thanks for posting!

I loved the aroma. However, my husband said it smelled like the Michael's store and didn't care for it at all. I will have to send him away on an extended trip!!!

I have a mini crock pot that I use just for this purpose. I keep it going all day and I find the aroma so relaxing. I change it around by adding lemons & limes and orange wedges.

This is so easy and smells wonderful! I like the fact that I can do it before company comes over and my house smells beautiful without doing candles. Thanks for sharing this easy way to add some lovely scents to our house!

YUM! This is a great recipe. It makes my house smell WONDERFUL! Thank you so much for sharing . Made it exactly as written, but I think I will add some orange peel and a bit more cinnamon to see if that makes it smell even better!
