Like other bakers here, I have tried a plethora of chocolate chip cookies. This is definitely the best recipe, and I will be sticking to it for a long time. The baking time and temperature were perfect. I did not find it necessary to flatten out the cookies before baking. I find that they spread out sufficiently while cooking. Letting them rest on the baking sheet for another ten minutes (while the second batch is baking), also helps them achieve the desired texture. Thanks-these were great!

I love the texture of these, crispy on the outsides and soft and chewy inside. Thanks for sharing this easy recipe.

These cookies were good, they were slightly crisp on the outside and very chewy on the inside. when i made these i found that when you drop the dough on the baking sheet, you have to press them down with the back of your spoon a little. Otherwise they will not spread very good in the oven, and come out a little cakey, instead of nice and chewy!

Excellent! The very concise instructions were a great help! I had to use margarine, since I did not have butter in the house, but they still come out very well-chewy and gooey-just the way I like them! I will be making these often!

My coworker asked me to bake him some protien cookies so I subsituted 1 cup of flour for powdered whey protien. I also used all margarine istead of shortening and butter (which changed the taste) but I found the cookies came out great. My version still came out thick, chewy and crisp on the outside. The only thing I would do next time would be to follow your shortening directions instead of improvising as I did. Great Guide lines!

Pretty good cookie recipe here. Tried it last night, then had pop-in visitors who attacked the batch! I caught one of my nieces stuffing her pockets with a couple extra for the road.... Found only one other cookie recipe to beat this one - Recipe# 93865.

I think I have found my favorite soft and chewy chocolate chip cookie at last! The intresting thing is that this is the only recipe I have seen so far for chocolate chip cookies that differs by using only brown sugar and not any granulated sugar too. Maybe it makes all the difference. By the way I tried Big Thick Chocolate Chip Cookies yesterday and although it wasn't bad and puffed up real nice- it wasn't as soft and chewy as I prefer and in my opinion could use another 1/4 tsp. of salt-. The only differences between this one and that one is the amount of salt, unsalted butter and granulated sugar- oh and 1/4 a cup of chips less! This recipe is the winner in my book and is a keeper in my family- thanks for sharing and sorry about the longwinded review!LOL

Wow! I've never been a big fan of chocolate chip cookies - there were so many other flavors I loved more. But my husband and dad requested some, so I set out to find a good recipe. After trying this one, I'm hooked! These are the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had and I'm officially a fan! My brother took one bite and said "These are magnificent" as he was grabbing 5 more. The only thing I did different was to use all butter. Other than that, I followed the ingredients and instructions to the letter and I'm glad I did. Thanks!
