Paula, These are the best pinto beans. Delicious and so easy to make, when I came home from work the house smelled so good. I didn't change a thing , except I used a big slice of ham cut into chunks, yum. Oh, I did bring the beans to a boil on top of stove then let them set for 1 hour(this really gets rid of gas), then drained them, put in crockpot with other ingredients, cooked them 8 hours. Dh loved them served them with flour tortillas and a side salad. I will be making then again, so easy using the crockpot, I usally make them on top of the stove. Thank you Paula, for posting the recipe.

These turned out SO good! It was just me and the kids that night. I put out mini flour tortillas and all the fixings (grated cheese, sour cream, salsa, lettuce, tomato, mexican rice) and everyone just built one mini burrito after another. The kids have asked several times since if I will make them again. That's not something you would have heard from me as a kid! But they were THAT good!

These were great! I made them to go with taco salad for a dinner party with friends and everyone loved them. Right before serving I mashed the beans coarsely with a potato masher right in the crockpot and topped it with cheese. Made great refried beans!

VERY good recipe! I loved this! Once it was done cooking, I served myself a bowl and added some cilantro and sour cream - so good!

These tasted wonderful and nearly everyone loved them. However, we cut back on the red pepper by quite a bit, and they were still super spicy. That was fine, because we like spicy, but it would have been too much even for us with the full amount! We'll definitely make these again.

I am making these for lunch tomorrow and I just tasted them. I had to come on and give my 5 stars for this delicious recipe! I can't wait for tomorrow. I did use lean salt pork instead of the bacon, and cut back to 1/2 tsp. of the red pepper flakes. Plenty hot enough for me! Thanks for sharing this recipe Paula.

These beans were very good. I did use the bacon, but I also added a little bit of chili powder after they were done. For some reason, though, after 2 hours on high, and 8 hours on low, the beans were still not quite done... I left it on overnight and woke up to GREAT tasting, perfectly cooked, beans. I'm not sure why mine took so long, but they were worth it the next day. Would definitely make these again.

These beans are absolutely delicious. I made them for my in-laws using pinto beans. I have made them a few more times using red beans. I like them both ways. I put the leftovers in freezer containers. They make a quick and easy lunch or a side dish.
