This is my 2nd review. Again, THIS IS GREAT! I've only made it like others with vanilla pudding. I've searched everywhere for the french vanilla & coconut cream. Could not find either. I finally called the 800 Jell-o #. I was told that the french vanilla pudding has been discontinued in their non instant products. The coconut cream is still being made but is seasonal. I've checked many a grocery store but have not found it yet. Again, a great pie using the regular vanilla! Just thought you'd all like to know!

This really is unbelievable apple pie! I used plain vanilla pudding mix because my store was out of the French Vanilla. Delicious! It is almost like a mix between apple pie and apple crisp or cobbler. Thanks for posting this great recipe! I love it!

This is very very yummy, but be warned, it screams to have ice cream on it! I used a regular vanilla pudding mix and sliced almonds instead of the pecans, because that's what I had available. I also used a combo of Jersy Mac and some other type of apples that I had. The pudding mix not only tastes great with the apples, it thickens the juices from the apples so that the pie isn't runny. Thanks for sharing this recipe Caroline.

One of my goals after my Dear Sweet pie making Mother passed away was to become a pie maker. She would be proud, this recipe makes it really easy and truly wonderful. To bad she didn't know about this. I love it and she would have too. Thanks a million.

This was sooo good! I could only find the regular vanilla pudding and it came out great. The smell was so enticing that we just had to dig in before it even cooled off. Can't wait to try it with other pudding mixes and maybe ice cream or cool whip as well. I left out the nuts because of DHs extreme allergy. This was one great pie. Thanks for posting; it'll be a regular for the holidays for sure.

Made this this morning but because all I could find were 6 serving size (weight over 6 ounces) puddings, maybe thats all we get now in Canada, I had to use more apples. 6 large Granny Smith apples and diced to make 8 cups of apples. I used 2 foil pie pans about 9". I didn't double the topping as that seemed enough. It worked out fine. I used the coconut pudding mix. The filling was just the right consistency.

I can only echo the other reviews - easy & delicious! I used regular vanilla pudding, chopped walnuts as I was out of pecans & added a dash of nutmeg. I would scale the topping in half next time - or make 2 pies. Thanx Caroline!

This makes a beautiful apple pie. I used plain vanilla pudding (it was all I had) and everyone who had a piece remarked on how tasty it was. Even those who claimed they didn't like apple pie! Thanks for a quick, easy recipe!

I'm changing my review to 5 stars. I made this again last night, but used different apples. The last apples used were from someone's tree and they weren't very good. This time I used granny smith and this pie turned out perfect! Again, I didn't use the topping, but put another pie crust on top. This is aces!

I'm having a tough time rating this one. To be honest, everyone who had a piece of this pie found it delicious, but I was concerned when I saw what it looked like when I took it out of the oven. It didn't look anything like the picture and the topping was all granular and un-pielike. After reading some of the other reviews I'm sure I must have screwed something up. I remember not preheating the oven very long and substituting regular sugar for brown sugar. Other than that I did exactly as directed. It didn't matter in the end because my guests loved it in spite of its appearance. I served it with an assortment of ice cream and though I do have leftovers I'm confident that their praise wasn't (only) out of politeness. I'll try this again and I hope to get it right next time! Thanks for the recipe!
