1 13x9 cake

  1. Set oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Grease and flour a 13x9 baking sheet or 2, 8 or 9-in round baking pans.
  3. Combine sugar, flour, shortening, eggs, soda, vanilla and baking powder.
  4. Beat with mixer on med speed for 2 minutes.
  5. Pour into prepared pans.
  6. Bake (13x9 pan) for 30-35 minutes.
  7. Frost with desired frosting.
  8. NOTE: if using Ginger Ale soda, I suggest to cut down on the sugar by a tbsp, depending on how sweet you prefer your cake.
