Great Grandma Homemade Ice Cream Recipe #380041

This recipe has been a family favorite. We make it every 4th of July.

1½ hours | 20 min prep

SERVES 10 , 1 cup

  1. Mix cornstarch with 1/2 c of milk.
  2. heat in saucepan until smooth & thick with wire whisk.
  3. in another bowl mix sugar, eggs, salt, abd condensed milk.
  4. Add some of the sugar egg mixture to the cornstarch to temper. lumps are too easy at this stage.
  5. add cornstarch mixture to rest of egg sugar mixture with a wire whisk.
  6. add vanilla and cream and top off with whole milk until your freezer is full.
  7. best if made a few hours ahead of freezing to "ripen".
