Easy Hair Gel--Medium Hold Recipe #378389

After wanting to try this, I finally had the courage. Good grief, I bought two pounds of gelatin for $.59/lb. several years ago. I've had a lot of experience making home made cosmetics and soap and that experience has served me well here. Why on earth have I waited so long to do this? Enjoy! NOTE: Cooking time is cooling time. You may use isopropyl or ethyl alcohol; the recipe format didn't allow that note.

3¼ hours | 10 min prep

SERVES 25 , 7 ounces

  1. Simmer the water.
  2. Sprinkle gelatin over the water.
  3. Cook for five minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Cool.
  5. Refrigerate for two hours or until firm.
  6. Add alcohol (to preserve) and stir well.
  7. Does not need refrigeration to keep, but do store in a covered container.
  8. You may add fine glitter to a small amount of the gel in order to dress up your hair.
  9. You may adjust the gelatin to increase or decrease the hold. I recommend no less than 2 tablespoons.
