Buttermilk Biscuits Recipe #101038

Very tender and light. Good served hot with butter or molasses.

12 biscuits

  1. Combine flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda.
  2. Cut in shortening.
  3. Add buttermilk and mix lightly just until a ball is formed.
  4. Knead very briefly.
  5. Put on a lightly floured board and roll out to approximately 1/2" thick.
  6. Cut with a floured biscuit cutter.
  7. Gather scraps together and re-roll and cut.
  8. Put on a lightly greased cookie sheet and bake in a preheated 400F oven for 12-15 minutes or until lightly browned.
