I"m not even sure how to pronounce this recipe, but I can tell you one thing, these cookies are so tasty - This spice cookie , traditionally prepared for Christmas, features black pepper. Pfeffernuesse is the German word for "peppernuts". The black pepper enhances the spice tasts without adding heat, Simply Delicious!!

    Beat brown sugar and butter with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy.
  2. 2
    Beat in eggs and extracts.
  3. 3
    Add remaining ingredients, except confectioners sugar, to flour and sift. Gradually add to butter mixture, mixing well, Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours.

    Peheat oven to 375°F Shape teaspoonfuls of dough into ovals and place 1-inch apart on ungreased baking sheets.

    Bake 10 minutes. Cool on baking sheets 1 minute. Remove to wire racks; sprinkle confectioners sugar over warm cookies.

    When cookies are cool, store in airtight containers.

The pronunciation is: Feffer Noose. This is so close to our recipe that I know it will be liked by all. In fact I will be making quite a large batch very son. Keep those recipies coming. Cap'n Jack
