This delicious pasta dish came off the back of San Giorgio's Penne Rigate pasta box. We love it. Sometimes I add sauteed chicken breast to it for a complete meal.

SERVES 8 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Cook pasta according to package directions.
  2. 2
Meanwhile, in small saucepan, melt butter; add garlic (I add the extra olive oil now).
  3. 3
Cook over medium heat 1 minute.
  4. 4
Add flour; cook 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  5. 5
Stir in broth and milk or cream.
  6. 6
Cook, stirring frequently, until sauce boils and thickens.
  7. 7
Add parsley, salt, pepper and Parmesan cheese; stir until cheese is melted.
  8. 8
Toss hot pasta with sauce; serve immediately.

Another awesome recipe Realtor! We loved this! I used cavatappi because I had no penne and added some chicken, as you suggested. Otherwise made as directed and my kids are bugging me because I should have made more than just enough for 4! It's a keeper, for sure! Made for Potluck Tag and Think Pink tag. Thanks Realtor!

Loved the garlicky flavour of this sauce. I used 2 cloves and didn't find it too strong at all. For 3 servings, I used 2 cups of dry pasta and the rest of the ingredients as listed and I'm glad I made the extra sauce as some was soaked up into the pasta. I used milk rather than cream to cut the calories and it thickened up just fine. Thank you for a super make-again recipe!

WOW, I'm in love with this dish, it's the total package. With this pasta (and who doesn't love pasta!) you get convenience because it's made of things I always have on hand, good health (18% fat!), ease and speed in putting it together. To top it all off it tastes fantastic. I made 3 servings (and ate half it it ) using 3/4 tablespoon of olive oil, defatted chicken broth and skim milk with 2 Tbsp of parm cheese so mine came in somewhere under the 18%. The sauce could be used on veggies or a chicken breast to great advantage. YUMM.
