  • Gramma Bonitz's German Potato Salad

Gramma would be proud to see her famous salad going down for such a good cause! Unfortunately I was a bit too eager when cooking the spuds and didn't let them get soft enough---but the workers/wives were gracious enough to eat it right up---and we had puh-lenty of leftovers to take home and enjoy for several more meals, too!

  • Thanksgiving Spinach Salad & Sweet Onion Dressing

Tossed the salad at home, then drizzled on the dressing there---but it STILL got pretty watery. Not much leftover, though, so all-in-all a success!

  • Fresh Baby Carrots

Gotta have a bit of fresh stuff--and to get the teeth clean!

  • Oven-Barbecued Chicken

Marinate the chicken in soy sauce over night (on the counter!), then drain the sauce (reserve for later); bake chicken at 350 for 30 minutes, pour off any juices or fat; next slather on a sauce made from the reserved soy sauce, 1/2 cup each of honey and home-made barbecue sauce; baste and turn, repeat at least twice. Serve and enjoy! This got gobbled right up...I had made 40 pieces of drums & thighs, and only three pieces were left to take home!

  • Focaccia Bread With Three Topping Choices

You never in your life heard such oohing and ahhing over a humble basket of bread! I topped with just olive oil and minced black & green olives. It's so easy to please some people!

  • Buster Bar Dessert

Boy oh boy, the builders and wives were THRILLED with such a fine dessert--if only they knew how EASY it is! I made two pans, one with and one without the peanuts.... Another case of oohing and aahhing sure made me feel like I'd done something right!
