"Tea is more than just a drink in Britain, it's a pastime. The humble tea plant grown thousands of miles away from fog, late trains and red postboxes is dearer to us than our Queen (god bless 'er). How you took your tea was an insight into your social standing "Afternoon tea" was enjoyed by the upper classes and this menu is an example of that - a light, dainty meal. "High tea" despite sounding posher was a more substansial meal usually consiting of thick bread and jam or meat and was enjoyed by the working classes at the end of a hard days work. "
