Don't be confused by my User Name. I'm not a "Joe", I'm a "Julie". I just happen to love Sloppy Joe's Bar in Key West and the sandwich they are named after so I thought it was a cute connection for this site. Of course, I also love Hog's Breath Saloon but somehow the name didn't seem to be as appealing, LOL!

I live on the East Coast of Central Florida with my DH (of almost 3 years) and our 2 Chihuahua's, Frito Bandito and our new puppy Tia-Rio. DH and I are both in the construction industry. He's a Remodeller and I've been managing the business of a Developer/General Contractor for almost 8 years. It's a rough and tumble business, especially these days and you have to have a tough skin to get through it. Some days I come home and the last thing I want to do is cook so anything I can whip up in less than an hour is the name of the game but on weekends, if I'm not swimming my laps in the pool you'll find me in the kitchen allowing my Inner-Gourmet to come out and play. I have a very simple, almost "Purist" type pallette but DH will try anything once so often times I'll cook something that I won't even eat. Especially if it has fresh garlic in it. I hate to say it, but I can't stand the stuff. But even when I cook with it, without tasting, my nose-knows when it's just right and according to DH I've been Spot-On.

So, I guess you could say I don't necessarily cook to eat, I cook to cook. I enjoy all the methodology and techniques from measuring ingredients to honing my knife skills. It excites all my senses. Sight, smell, taste, touch and hearing. Even on those days when I'm not really up to it I find myself getting lost in the moments and movements even if I'm just browning ground beef. What can be better than that??
