After 16 years of marriage, my husband and I decided to start a family. Now we have a beautiful 8 year old daughter and an amazing 3 year old son. I can't imagine life without them. I've found that being a parent is one of the most challenging and fulfilling life experiences I have ever had. I always thought childbirth would be the hardest part of having kids....what was I thinking! Nothing touches the depth of your soul until your child gets sick or when they stop what they're doing just to tell you they love you. It just makes everything fade and the reality of what is truly important in life comes through loud and clear.
Before having a family, I thought I would travel the world and be a fabulous cook. It sounded good. I also loved to paint. Now I see the world through the eyes of my children, cook (sometimes in a fabulous way), and paint with my fingers. What could be better!
What do I like to do? Besides the already mentioned, I like to entertain family and friends, read (but it has to be captivating), watch Anthony Bourdain eat strange things in foreign lands, laugh at old Seinfield episodes, make a messy home clean again, and occasionally sleep in.
My favorite cookbook? There are far too many to limit myself. One book does come to mind, although it's not really a cookbook. It's Julia Child's "My Life in France".
My passions? Definitely my husband. My children. Friends. Food. Drinking a good red wine while making dinner. Laughing. Hearing my children laugh.
My pet peeves? The fact that I don't have a pet peeve.
My favorite dish to cook? Pasta Puttanesca. I love the aroma while it is cooking and I love the look I get from my husband while he's enjoying it.
How about the foods I don't like: mushrooms.
