I am vegetarian for ethical reasons, though I understand my partners' and guests' love of meat and am still cooking many meat dishes.
I have been in the wine industry for many years and have always delighted in food + wine matching. Not eating meat has allowed myself to become even more creative and adventuresome with either discovering a stella wine and making a recipe to match or vice versa.
