about me

I am having a little trouble with my photo as you can see. I have tried resizing it. Oh well. This is half my face.

I am a government worker and served 7 years in the military. I actually quite enjoyed the structure. I had to leave the military when I got divorced. I'm an empty nester now, but I raised 4 kids as a single parent. Believe it or not, I do not have a lot of experience cooking. When the budget is tight, you find yourself making the same things over and over again. I have really been expanding my horizons since discovering the Zaar. At first, I made recipes and didn't even bother to write a review! I was a baaad puddy tat!

I've been trying some of the tag games and cooking events:

ZWT5
Our team came in fourth place, yay!

I "inherited" an old cookbook from Bogota, Colombia and am currently trying to translate it as best I can since I don't speak/read Spanish. My husband, a Colombiano, says these recipes are not typical dishes, but rather what the hoity-toity in the big city would eat. We shall see...

The first recipe I tried to translate turned out to be a galantine of chicken (I had no idea what that was) which started out explaining how to pluck a chicken. I may not live in the big city, but if my chicken has feathers on it, it must be my pet. LOL

Oh, and I have the genealogy bug. My sister started it (as usual) and we have been working on our family history for over 10 years.

And Ice Cool Kitty is actually a New York bred thoroughbred race horse! I love the ponies, but don't bet much right now...hello...recession.

Favorite Foods:

Roast beef, anything with bacon, mayo, butter, you get the drift...don't forget horseradish (my new fave) I like to play the cooking tag games because I wind up trying new recipes that I ordinarily wouldn't have - and they've been great! ZWT5 was especially good for this. Some of my favorite recipes from the tag games were:

Southwest Grilled Avocados
Potato Salad With Creamy Blue Cheese Dressing
Patatas Bravas - Brave Spanish Potatoes
Honey-Balsamic Glazed Grilled Chicken W/ Asparagus
Dancing Mushrooms
Sunny Sweet Potato Salad
Sweet Potato and Chicken Salad
Southwestern Pasta Salad
