about me

Hi! I live just outside of the "Emerald City", Seattle! I'm from the east, but moved here when I married. One thing I miss about the east coast more than anything are my 5 grandkids, 4 boys and one Princess.

My husband, Sam, is a chili cookoff blue ribbon winner. He used to cook professionally and still enjoys BBQing and smoking ribs and Triploids. What's a Triploid? It's a humongous rainbow trout! I caught my first last spring and Sam smoked them - totally yummy!

Sam and I both like canning. We enjoy making jams, salsa, dilly beans, cha-cha pickles (mmm, secret recipe!), and lots of other goodies. My grandkids love jam. When they get a package from me they have a cow if there is no jam in the box.

My favorite chef is Julia Child who is the Empress of good cooking. After her I would have to say that I learned more from Nathalie Dupree than I could have learned at the CIA! She is a wonderful and honest cook who makes real food for real people!

My pet peeve is going to a restaurant and ordering a chicken ceaser salad and getting two ounces of chicken on a bunch of soggy romaine. C'mon! Thow some protein on that lettuce!

Favorite Foods:

I love to bake! I love inventing new recipes and adapting old ones to fit the Protein Power Plan. My husband likes my fried chicken so much he won't eat any other. And for dessert he likes my apple cake - another secret recipe!

My favorite restaurant is hard to say. I like a little burger joint my husband found for their fish and chips. Sam and I also like Tony Roma's for ribs and the Outback for Monday lunches. I like quite a few of the Walt Disney World restaurants too. My best friend and I take a grandkid there just about every year and we have our favorites such as Chef Mickey for the kiddie atmosphere, the Prime Time Cafe for the family atmosphere and the great fun we have there, we love 1900 Park Fare since it is the best buffet and a little mellower than the other places. Just about all the Disney places are great.

Well, I have told you way too much and you are probably ready to fall asleep by now! I hope you like my recipes and if there is anything special you are looking for just give me a holler! If i can figure out how to put a picture in this program I would show you my Triploid!
