about me

European "mutt": Latvian - Polish - Russian - Swiss - French - German.
Grew up in Germany with lots of company from all corners of the planet; food and drink was always offered when someone came to visit within 5 minutes or less. I love to have company myself and share some good food and cheap wine with friends. I am glad to live in the USA now, even though I have not made the plunge to become naturalized, but that is another story.
I went to school in Germany, Begium, and the Netherlands and would move back to the Netherlands or Belgium in a heartbeat.
Of course, I am multilingual and I worked as an interpreter when I met my American spouse in Germany. We have moved to Virginia as a compromise between too much heat and no seasons in the South and the very cold winters of the North.
I just love the multitude of ethnic foods available here in the USA! I have made many friends from many different cultural backgrounds and have incorporated many of their fascinating cuisines into my repertoire.

Favorite Foods:

Love to improvise and blend different cultures and flavors. Am fond of brown rice, whole grain anything, and FRESH fish. I have a hard time finding really fresh fish in any store. My father used to say that dead fish should never see the moon. Growing up I did not know that fish smelled bad. We always ate it within hours of it being caught and cleaned.
