about me

I am a 67 yeaar old Grandmother and my son, daughter in law, their three children, myself, Jeff, my black Lab, and Dixie our family cat all live together in my large house which used to be an assisted living facility. When I first came to Florida I worked as a psychiatric nurse in the UK and after taking the Florida Nursing Boards I started my small assisted living business. This is where I learned to cook for the residents the American way — slightly different from British cooking. I started my second facility after a few years and then the business grew to three assisted livings. I quickly had to learn to cook for large numbers of people. In 2005 I had cancer and took the best part of the following year to recover. My family had by that time come over to help and we decided to turn the little business I had started into a family home. I now eat mostly vegetarian foods although I have fish and chicken occasionally. I love to swim with Jeff, read, watch most of the reality shows and have a friend JIm with who I go on cruises. recenly I cooked a vegetarian moussaka which Jim and my family enjoyed very much. I work in my facilities now as the activity director. One of our projects is to grow vegetables and flowers in earth boxes placed on tables so that they are wheelchair accessable. I thank God for my continued health and work in the comunity as much as I can for cancer research. I shall shortly be participating in Relay for Life at the end of this month, May 2008.

Favorite Foods:

oranges, apples and most fruits.
Broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower and most vegetables.
I love most vegetarian foods cooked with imagination.

On the desert side I adore apple pie and icecream. Lots more too --
