I try to eat things as close to their natural state as possible, with minimal processing. I believe in a low-sugar diet consisting mainly of an enormous variety of whole grains, fresh vegetables & fruits, lean proteins, nuts & beans. I grow what food I can, and I buy local and organic whenever possible, regardless of price, even though I am poor. I pay lots of attention to genetic modification of foods (which I avoid), pesticide & fertilizer use, & the toxicity of cooking utensils (such as most plastics & aluminum). I educate kids about recycling & composting, and I also work at a group home for teenagers.
