Hi! I’m into fruits and veggies! Not to eat, but to collect! When I met my husband, 3o years ago, he was always going to flea markets and antique shows. So I figured, if we were going to hang out together, I needed to start collecting something. I now have a great collection of fruit & veggie shaped salt and pepper shakers, cookie jars, tea pots, dinnerware and serving dishes. Some of the pieces are older from the late 1800’s but most are vintage pieces from the 1930’s and 40’s.
I grew up in Ohio. I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area and Northern California for many years. Currently, I am enjoying retirement with my husband in Southern Arizona. I now have the time to go through recipes and try different things. I love the RecipeZaar because every one gets to put in their two-cents. I get great suggestions from the reviews. Like a lot of cooks on this site, I rarely follow a recipe exactly but change it up the way I like it.
I am going to try to post some of my own recipes. This may prove to be a bit difficult because I cook mostly by feel and instinct. I don’t measure things exactly. I’m one of those “a bit of this and a pinch of that” cooks.
Also, I am looking forward to posting some of my 89 year old mother Isabel’s recipes. She is a very good, old fashioned cook and makes some dishes that I don’t see here on RecipeZaar.
At heart, I am still a small town girl from Ohio who likes meat with gravy, sauces, potatoes, noodles and over cooked vegetables. This is what my husband refers to as “Mid-west Mush”.
If there is one thing in the world that I could absolutely not live without, it would be milk! Sounds crazy, but there it is!
