I've been wanting to organize my own cookbook in binder form for a long time now with not enough time to make very much headway. Not enough time to cook as much as I'd like and certainly no extra time to organize all of my recipes. Time after time I find myself headed for RecipeZaar for inspiration and it has finally started to click that I don't need to spend hours and hours on my binder--all I need is right here--and MORE! Plus, on more than one occasion I've wished I had my recipes with me when we were out of town so I could whip up something instead of going out to eat. Give me a recipe and I'm a pretty good cook but my memory is not the best so trying to remember ingredients and measurements would not be my strong point! So now instead of trying to plan ahead which recipes I want to take on our trips or dragging my big old recipe book I can just log on to Zaar and presto--tons of ideas! I love, love, love this site and how it helps you organize everything, although I can see with this great site instead of me completing my recipe book, it will always be a work in progress. Just as well. It is fun seeing all the new recipes every single day.
So many creative and helpful people here on Zaar. This website is awesome and since I've become a premium member it has made things even easier for me. So many features--it is great! I'm still printing hard copies of my recipes to go in my binder but I love having the online version as well. One of my main objectives is to add pictures in my binder of my mom with recipes that she has passed down to me, as well as other people's recipes shared with me throughout the years. I think it will be a neat keepsake and may be something my children might like in the future. I joke with my son, Michael, that it is my way of letting him know how I like my food cooked for the future so that I can call him up and tell him what I want for dinner--he can just refer to my recipe book and know exactly how I like it! He thinks that's pretty funny. Hey, you never know. He might be whipping up some Zaar dishes for me by then when I'm too old to remember how to cook. For now it is a huge help for me and I'm having a lot of fun with it all.
Puff Daddy (that's my hubby) loves just about anything I cook and recently surprised me on my birthday--yipee--with a new stove that I desperately needed as the old one had seen better days. Most women, of course, would not be so excited about such a gift for their birthday but I couldn't have been happier. It works great! Smooth top, just like I wanted.
And I'd saved up just enough towards the stove that I used that to buy a matching over-the-stove microwave and a Hamilton Beach Rotisserie that I'd been eyeing for years. I'm all set now! My son, Michael, loves to eat just as much and, as a growing 16-year-old, he is a bottomless pit. My 6-year-old stepson, Cameron, used to be a picky eater but he has even started eating some "real food" instead of just junk food. It does my heart good to see them enjoy a good meal.

My number one favorite I think is Thanksgiving Dinner, preferably with my mom cooking it, along with one or two of my specialities added into the mix. Oh, and oatmeal candy (or no-bake cookies as some people call them), once again, preferably my mom's. How is it that your mom can make the exact same recipe and hers end up tasting way better than yours? Same with her hushpuppies when we fry fish--mine never turn out like hers. And the homemade bread she used to make when I was growing up. Oh man, it was so good you could make a meal from just the bread alone. Oh, and then she'd add cinnamon to it occasionally. Whoo-whee, talk about good! I tried making the homemade bread several times and it was pretty good but hers was so much better it seemed an insult to cook it. Seriously.
