about me

The photo above is of our bad boy Remington. He was named after a Charles Wysocki painting and came into our lives as a wild and desperate stray. It took two years to tame him and now he is a big baby. He shares his domain with Frederick Norris the Literate (also named after a Wysocki painting and who fell from the sky into our front yard one cold November night and never left) and Snoopy, a petite pastel calico who is a grumpy old lady that growls like a lion at the other two. We also have a very old mixed breed dog who used to wear a backpack and hike with us. Our service dog we were raising has gone to live with his partner and we are adjusting to a slightly quieter life.
I live in a small town with a big university and have never lived anywhere else. I homeschooled my daughters and they are now in community college. They still live at home and are both vegetarians. I have lots of experience cooking for large groups, including last summer's job preparing three meals a day for ninety people at a girls' camp. I prefer my current job at a small coffee shop where I make quiche and pasta salad a couple days a week. My younger daughter and I are Pampered Chef consultants to raise money for her to study in England next summer. Unfortunately we couldn't sell a life raft to a drowning person, so we have had less than stellar sales. I suppose we are just not aggressive enough!! I have been married for 23 years and both sets of parents live nearby.

Favorite Foods:

Comfort food is a specialty but I am trying to learn to make old recipes acceptable to my vegetarian daughters. DH is still (and always will be) eating meat and fish, so he gets lots of things cooked on the grill. I love to bake and I am learning some vegan muffin recipes to make at the coffee shop.
We love to eat out and our favorite restaurant is a regional chain called Macado's.
