I live in Colorado. It is my favorite place to be because it is where all my friends and family are.Life just would not be the same with out all of them.
I work for the Nations largest retail store. Can you guess which one it is? :o)
My favorite thing to do is to Laugh and to make other people laugh. I love to see their smiles. If I can make just one person smile each day then I am one happy person. Your smile is a wonderful thing. It is virtually pain free and brings so much joy to all who see it. I have learned many things in my life and I believe the most important thing I have learned is that it is the little things that make the biggest difference in your's and my life. And what better way to do it than to smile. Live ,Love, Laugh and give Peace,Love,Hope, and most of all JOY.
I really dont have a favorite cook book. I like reading and taking from them all. I do have one that started all my basic cooking. The pages are worn and torn and some are missing. It is a book that a dear friends Fathers company made in the early 80's. It has recipes from all the employee's and their spouses. They were easy to make and most of all a great beginner book. I still have a few favorites I use from the book, but now it is time to pass it down.
My Mom and Dad taught me and all my siblings how to do the basic in cooking. After we all grew up and went our own ways, some of us have chose to continue to cook where as others chose not to. :o) For those of us who chose to continue cooking we still call Mom and Dad for help.
My Dad is the Chef in the family and may I add he is the best Chef I know!!! He makes fabulous tasting food. We will never figure out how he does it. We can take the same recipe and it never taste the same as his. He is known for his Green Chili. He can really cook up a batch of good Green Chili. We all have many stories about Dads cooking and I am sure he has many stories he could add to our's.
He has given each one of us a lil secret about his Green Chili and we tell each other so we can put them secrets all together and somehow we still never seem to cook it the way Dad does. However some have came close but it is never the same. Now the Grandchildren are cooking and asking Grandpa for cooking secrets and as he gives them they share with us. WE STILL CANNOT GET IT RIGHT. :o) We have so much fun trying to get it right and sharing his secrets. I know now he is always changing his recipe and probably because he wants to stay a top and ahead of all of us. :o)
I dont think I really have a favorite dish. I like to make so many different dishes. I started to type in Fried potatoes, Chicken Fried Steak, Fried Chicken, But I soon realised they are not my favorite so much to make, but possibly my favorite memorable meals. The fried potatoes and Chicken remind me of home and Mom's cooking. We loved Moms fried chicken and fried potatoes. The chicken fried steak is a great reminder of my children and how much they loved it and the warmth it gave me with all of us sitting and eating it together as a family.
So it is the memories that I long for in my food. To make new recipes and new Memories each time I cook.
I think I am famous for my Kraut Burgers. I love to make these because everybody loves them so much. The worst part is you slave over these a half a day and then they vanish in the blink of an eye. Dont get me wrong I am grateful they love them but I wonder what it would feel like to have them linger around just a little bit longer? :o)
I love the Food Network Channel. My favorite show is Paula Deens. She has so many good ole home cooking dishes and I love how warm and comfy she is. The best part of her is her Kitchen has all the basics in it as the majority of all basic kitchens have. When I see a recipe of her's I know I probably have all the ingredients in my Kitchen. I dont have to go to the store and buy items that I may never use again. That is the worst part about new recipes. You end up with pricey items you may never use again.
One of our Favorite dishes of Paula's is her Cat Fish. It is so tasty and tender. Might I also add they are a Big hit with all the guests.
