My husband and I now live in Yosemite National Park in California. It is a beautiful place year round and we feel blessed to be here. We love going to San Francisco to play and dine. Usually we try to go to a different restaurant each time we visit. There are so many great ones but so little time.
We also love to travel. We have met some of our dearest friends while traveling, especially cruises. Our favorite travel site is Vacationstogo.com. If you enjoy cruising you should check out that site. It's wonderful.
My favorite cookbooks use to be anything from Gourmet or Bon Appetit. I learned to cook from their magazines and books. HOWEVER, since I have become addicted to Recipezaar, I don't use them hardly at all! This is now my favorite cooking resource.
My passions are my husband ;>), sons, friends, cooking, travel, and our three kitties.
What would we do if we had a month off? Well, we actually did that a couple of years ago. We rented an apartment on the island of Bequia in the Grenadines. One of the most memorable times of our lives.
My husband and I love comfort foods. To us that usually means something that takes a while to cook and fills the house with tantalizing aromas. For us it would be anything with veal or lamb shanks, swiss steak, meatloaf, chicken fried steak, polenta.
Christmas dinner is probably my most famous dinner. I am going to be posting the recipes that I have used over the years. We would start with Lobster Bisque and champagne, Beef Wellington with a strong Cabernet, a potato gratin, green beans with garlic and slivered ham. Dessert would always be Carol's Sticky Toffee Pudding which has already been posted.
It is very, very difficult to say which is my favorite restaurant. There are so many wonderful ones it is impossible to determine which is the best. However, the most recent favorite would have to be " Gary Danko" in San Francisco. It is very, very difficult to get in. You need to plan a couple of months in advance. Another absolutely fantastic restaurant is the French Laundry in Yountville California. Again, it is very, very difficult to get in and it is very expensive.
