I'm a stay at home mom of a three year old as well as my newest peanut born early March 2009, and have been married to the love of my life since August 2002. I was born in Milwaukee, WI and spent some time in my husband's hometown of Peoria, IL before we moved to St. Louis, MO. My family and I moved to Austin in April 2007 after nearly 4 years living in and loving STL. We hope to someday move back to STL, but for now, we're enjoying life down here (though it's definitely a change from the Midwest).
My daughter & son keep me very busy. However, when I do have spare time, I enjoy scrapbooking and other crafts, surfing the Internet, reading, and of course - cooking!
I lurked on this site for a long time before joining. I'm still trying to find recipes in my collection that are unique and that I think others might enjoy, so I'm hoping to start posting some recipes soon.
One of my dreams/goals in life is to learn how to decorate cakes. Some of my favorite childhood memories involve the homemade decorated birthday cakes that my Grandma made for me when I was little. She passed away in June of 2006, but I'm hoping to pass on that tradition by being able to make cakes for my children someday. I have a Wilton DVD and a bunch of supplies (some of which were passed on to me by my Grandma before she died when she found out that I wanted to take up the hobby), so now I just need the time to practice! *Update - January 2009 - I just officially decorated my first cake! It was a My Little Pony themed cake for my daughter's third birthday. Purple icing with pink decorations and of course, little plastic ponies and a rainbow on top
. It turned out pretty good, and my daughter loved it, so I'm really glad to have been able to do that for her. I continue to look forward to future adventures in cake decorating!!!!
Thank you for stopping by my page and taking the time to read my ramblings!
My favorite foods are tacos, pizza, toasted ravioli (the authentic STL kind), and all kinds of cookies. YUM!
I'm not too picky when it comes to food. Mushrooms and black olives are the main items on my "there's no way I'm going to eat that" list. However, if I'm given something with mushrooms and/or black olives on it, I'll just pick around them or take them off.
I love all kinds of different restaurants. Unfortunately, there's not always money available to eat out. That's why I'm really grateful for the internet and websites like RecipeZaar - I can create great dishes at home by myself!!!
Since moving to Texas, I've discovered a love of Whataburger and Freebirds World Burrito. I also love the roasted beef sandwiches at Lion's Choice in STL (and just my luck...we're supposed to be getting one in Austin really soon!).
