Literacy consultant and WAHM mom of three. Grew up in the country, our family raising most of our own food due to allergies. So I got to know what real food tasted like early on. I scarcely know how to cook using prepackaged foods. I managed a gourmet market between college and grad school. Today, I get much of my food direct from farmers, and the things not raised locally from Trader Joe's. With three kids under 11, I don't have too much time to think about what I'm going to make, but I still like to play with my food when I have the time! I subscribe to a menu mailer, thymeforcooking.com, for excellent daily cooking. It's like having my sister planning my cooking for me, since Katie, the brains behind Thyme for Cooking, plans the kinds of things I like.
I can't even begin to pick! I suppose I lean towards northern Italian/southern French. I also love real Sicilian things; various Indian things; Vietnamese family foods; poutin; various American comfort foods--I make a pretty mean chicken pot pie that feeds a whole family!
