about me

I am 45, a mother of two children (daughter is 16, son is 15). I have a wonderful husband who used to do all our cooking. It was something I liked to do when we got married, but he slowly took it over. He's been going through withdrawals since spring, as I kinda took the kitchen over now I'm also a "7 year" breast cancer survivor.

I've always grown tomatoes & peppers on pots, but this past spring I decided to have a huge garden! I grew tomatoes, all kinds of different sweet & hot peppers, cucumbers, potatoes, and corn. Next year I will be expanding as I am addicted to gardening now!

I also canned for the first time this year (my friends and family call me the canning fool). I've canned over 200 mason jars of all kinds of things...spaghetti sauce, steak sauce, pickles, pickled vegetables, barbecue sauce, soups, stewed tomatoes, raw tomatoes, diced tomatoes, tomato juice, tomato puree, tomato sauce, tomato paste...GEEZ! Tomato this and that. I pressure can what needs pressure canning and water bath others. It amazes me how many people think I'm crazy for doing this. They don't understand why I would go to all the trouble to make homemade barbecue sauce when I can just buy it at the store...HELLO? It's a "thing" and it's completely addicting. Nothing like going downstairs and getting a jar of homemade barbecue sauce.

I'm also into drying my herbs and freezing them. Roasting peppers on the grill, removing the skins, and freezing those.

Homemade bread? Absolutely. Everything from bagels, to buns, to soft pretzels, pizza dough, etc.

Favorite Foods:

Absolutely everything!!! The only food I do not like is corned beef.
