about me

That's my great husband Bill and I taken Nov. 2008. I love this picture.

I guess I still need to figure out how some people can put more than one picture on this page because I sure can't do it!
Well I thought it was about time to update my page....again!
Well, I can't say that you get any wiser with age. Can't say that getting wiser comes with it either.
Actually I think that you are supposed to get your mind then.
I haven't gotten mine yet though!~
This is my second year with the Zaar and I still love it.
Rating a recipe can be difficult. I like to be fair.
If I make a recipe and it was not good, it was probably me, my likes or dislikes or something.
If the recipe didn't come out fork tender, or juicy, or tasty enough, it's probably not the recipe owner's fault and I won't rate you for my mistakes. I think that is just totally wrong. I should have tasted it for taste, watched it closer for doneness, or not let it dry up. You get it.
I think if someone rates and reviews a recipe, they should say what they have to say in a nice way or they should just not even say they tried it. Lots of times you could be rating someone that is just learning and has put a lot of effort in trying that recipe.
Saying something terrible could really hurt and they just don't want to learn any more.
So watch it when you rate it.
I love making large family meals or just little ones for me and my husband. Now if I could just convince myself that there really is only 2 of us living here I wouldn't feel the need to fill up the pot or pan and end up with a meal for 10. Glad I own a food saver!
I live on a farm with my husband, 4 dogs, 2 cows, 36 chickens. Yes I sell fresh eggs.
I have 3 children and my husband has 2, so we have 5
I have 3 grandchildren and my husband has 1, makes 4.
I have been in the "2007 Fall Halloween Swap",
the 2007and 2008 Christmas Stocking swap and I was also adopted in 2007 in adopt a chef.
In 2008 I was in the Salt & Pepper shaker Swap and now I am hosting the first "Cookin' Casserole" Swap.
Not hosting the Garden Swap or the Cookbook Swap but was in both.I was in the 2008 Fall and Halloween swap.
This summer I am writing and publishing my own private cookbook for my family. It will not be for sale as I hope it will be an heirloom some day. It will also have family information in it.
I found a great little CD that helps you accomplish this task.
I plan to have it done by Christmas and give it for gifts along with hand embroidered and machine sewed items. All of which have to do with cooking in some way or another.
Each year I try to learn or teach myself at least one new thing per season. Could be anything. This fall it tamales and freezing fruits.
This is the best website I have ever found to be a part of. It's like an extended family. As for food
well...............it's soooo good!
I did have a picture of the casserole swap in here but it disappeared.

Favorite Foods:

Love Mexican, including enchiladas, tacos and Mexican casseroles.
Seafood, lobster, crab and shrimp, many kinds of fish, long as it's not breaded.
Many kind of casseroles, chicken, pork and fruit salads without jello and cream sauces.
Ribs are favorites too.
Pork has become our meat of choice, chicken, beef, seafood, and fish mostly in that order.
Best dishes I think are always the one dish meals.
When there are family get together's my family always insists that I make the potato salad and do most of the cooking.
I don't measure things too often so a lot of pinching and dashing.
So when it comes to writing a recipe, I usually end up guessing how much I add in.
I have always been one to try new things and lately it's been an interest in yeast breads and rolls.
I'm sure many other things will be coming along that will strike my interest too.
Who knows maybe it will be one of your recipes.
