about me

Wow, how time flies! I just reread my profile and realized it was far beyond time to revise it. I don't know where the time has gone...though maybe having a 13 year old son and an 11 year old daughter has something to do with how fast it's gone!

When I joined 'Zaar, it was an accident of fate that I even found the site. I was looking for a recipe on another site, they didn't have it so I ended up here. Nowadays, 'Zaar is my most favorite web haunt-I can't imagine life without it!

Recently I have been on a search to convert all our old favorite foods into healthier versions...all the flavor but less of the bad stuff. Thankfully for the most part, it's been a successful endeavor! And a good thing, too! My family loves to eat!

If I had my druthers, my kitchen would be located in the Outer Banks of North Carolina...more specifically beachfront on Hatteras Island, preferably in Avon. It would be wall to wall windows with a wrap around deck right outside the french doors, just steps away from the stove and coffee maker. That would enable me to start my mornings exactly the way I like to...with something completely delicious baking in the early morning while I sit on my deck, sipping my coffee and watching the sun rise over the Atlantic before anyone else is up and about.

In reality, my kitchen is entirely too small and located in the south east burbs of Pittsburgh. It's ok, I can dream!

Favorite Foods:

I suppose my most favorite thing to make would have to be cookies. I tend to supply my family with most of the cookies they need for parties, weddings, graduations. Not to mention, I have stocked many an elementary school bakesale pretty much single handedly! I enjoy taking a recipe and making it mine by changing it to fit my family's taste. Sometimes it means they will be eating the same cookie for a couple weeks straight till I get it right, but they really never seem to mind being my guinea pigs!

To me, the most enjoyable cuisine would probably have to be Italian. I enjoy the preparations involved, the lovely aromas of garlic and onions and I most definately enjoy devouring the finished product! Nothing beats it! A very close second is Middle Eastern cooking. I can remember being knee high to a grasshopper rolling grape leaves with my Aunts and Syrian Grandmother. Delicious!

I suppose in a galaxy far, far away, I would like to start my own restaurant...maybe! My mind seems to change frequently on that subject. I guess we will have to see what the future brings...but if I do open one, make sure you stop by and see me! I would love meeting other 'Zaar addicts!
