A happily married wife and mom of two young adults, I've enjoyed cooking and baking since childhood. I also love gardening, nature, and travel. Lately I'm trying to nurture my artistic side by drawing in a small sketch pad. I'm also working on creating a watercolor painting from recent Hawaii trip photos. Pictured above is a photo of Hanalei Pier in Kauai.

My pasta maker had been sitting new in its box since the summer of 1995 (*blush*) but today, 8.22.09, I finally broke it out and made pasta from scratch. I used a combination of all-purpose and semolina flours, salt, eggs, olive oil, and water to make fettuccine, linguine, and vermicelli. The last of my dough would not extrude through the machine, so I rolled then cut it into heart shapes to fill for one-of-a-kind ravioli. This was such a fun and creative kitchen project! Don't wait fourteen years like I did to try your hand at homemade pasta!
Recipezaar is my favorite cooking website. I love discovering new recipes here. Thanks fellow chefs for your encouragement, inspiration, and lottsa great meals! To those who have kindly reviewed or photographed my recipes ~

RSC #14 was extra fun for me because I got to share the experience with a cooking buddy! My creative daughter and I spent ingredient reveal day together shopping for groceries then inventing recipes for this contest. We had a wonderful time in the kitchen and made a happy memory creating our original recipes. Hopefully, my lovely DD Cookie Lane, will decide to participate again in more of the fun 'zaar contests to come!
I enjoy all kinds of food. Especially if you cook it for me...oh yeah! I'm not hard to please, but do have some textural issues: cheese curds, slimy oysters, rubbery squid, rattlesnake...ewww, No Thanks! My favorites are saucy pasta dishes, Baja-style fresh Mex, Asian stir-fry, Bud Light Lime, frozen Snickers, homemade cookies, Laffy Taffy, hot morning coffee with fake Irish Cream, and my mother-in-law's highly coveted peanut brittle!
A couple favorite foodie verses from my kitchen:
"There is nothing better for people than to be happy and to enjoy themselves as long as they can. And people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits their labor, for these are gifts from God." ~ Ecclesiastes 3:12-13
"Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who trust in him!" ~ Psalm 34:8
