I live in Savannah, GA and work as a medical transcriptionist, both full time for my main job and also with a private client who takes up about 20 hours a week. I wish I had more time to cook, but 2 jobs and a husband and a house and a garden and 2 cats take up a LOT of time! When I retire, stand back! Favorite cookbook is a toughie — I've got lots and read them like novels, always being careful to wipe off the drool... Pet peeves? Fast "food" junk establishments. They're not restaurants, and they don't serve food.
Asparagus. Any way, any time, any how. This year I planted a patch and it's going great guns. Starting next year I won't have to pay $5 a pound... People love my potato salad, made with new red potatoes and a dressing that's about 3/4 sour cream to 1/4 mayonnaise, with scallions and lots of fresh dill. I'm just starting to garden, but I've got lots of healthy herbs (rosemary, basil, thyme, sage, chives, oregano and dill) that are thriving. They're SO much better fresh out of the garden, and I'm lucky that our winters are so mild I can pop out the back door and pick rosemary, sage and thyme for my turkey stuffing at Thanksgiving and sage for my goose stuffing at Christmas.
