I minored in anthropology in college, and food is part of a culture,, so I'm interested in various ethnic foods. I'm on a restricted diet, however, and I'm not a great chef,, so I look for simple dishes without milk products, too much hot spices, grease, and now I've been diagnosed diabetic too!
Quite a challenge sometimes to work out a menu for myself, within my budget too! So I've come here to see if I can find, and share, interesting foods and menues.
Some of my favorites, gleaned over the years of tradtional, exploratory, and healthful things are, not necessarily in any order: chayote, blueberries, Honey Nut Cheerios! (sorry, but it's true), herbs as teas or additions to a menu. I tried Italian style bacalla for Christmas last year and that was great! I like to make my own noodles in a pasta machine. I like fry bread, and found out that many cultures have a similar recipe, with various names for it.. Jamaicans call it dumplings, Indians call it fry bread, some call it a flatbread. well.. I could really go on and on here. I don't eat much pork or red meat, and more salmon (canned too) and other fish, eggs, and chicken. More later.
