about me

I LOVE to COOK,I have been cooking since I was 5 years old, helping my Grandmother in the kitchen making biscuits and other goodies. I crochet, knit,love gardening & enjoy being with family and friends. We have been married for 60 years as of September 20th 2007.The picture was taken at our 60Th anniversary party. My husband is my best friend, We married very young. We have a Son and a Daughter. Helped raise two boys. One of them and his wife comes to visit often. He is our Sons best friend since Jr high. Our Son & Daughter-in-law have been married for 39 years. Our Daughter & Son-in-law have been married for 32 years.
We have 6 Grandchildren, 3 boys, 3 girls, AND 7 Great-Grandson's. Our 2 newest Great-Grandsons was born in April(2007) one on the 19TH and one on the 22ND. We have 4 Great-Grand Sons born in October. 1 born in June 2006. We now have 7 October birthdays, 2 grand-daughters, 4 Great-Grand-sons & Me all have October birthdays.
I did child Daycare while my children were growing up. Then went to work in the Electronic field for 21 years(worked in the machine shop was a lead). After retiring I went back into day care for a few years. Then took care of our Daughter-in-laws Dear Mother for several years until her death. I am now a caregiver to an 86 year old lady 3 days a week. I take her to appointments, shopping and just being a companion. We have become good friends and enjoy doing things together,like going shopping, to the beauty shop, out to lunch & just talking.
RecipeZaar is my & my husbands favorite site. I Love to cook & try new recipes. My husband & I both collect old cook books. We have so many I haven't tried to count them. Our oldest cookbook is 124 years old. I have quite collection of old Better Homes & Gardens Cookbooks,the oldest being 1939.
I love to garden, both vegetable & flowers.We have a rose garden, over 55 roses that I love & we both belong to the Rose Society Garden Club.I have won a number of first place with my roses. June 3(2007) our garden is in the rose garden tour.
I and my Husband love to watch and feed the birds especially the humming-birds. We have eight large feeders (30 & 42-ounce) and use over 50 pounds of sugar a month to make syrup for the little Hummers( June 2007 we used 65 pounds of sugar, just for the hummers.)
We grow lots of our vegetables which I can & freeze.

Favorite Foods:

Zaar is loaded with our favorite recipes. Chicken & noodles(homemade noodles), Pot-Roast & soups are family favorites. Every one loves my breads, focaccia and desserts. My family always loves to come to dinner.
Mexican food is my favorite food when going out to dinner.
