My love for cooking started when I lost my Mom at a very young age and being awed at myself for making and liking Uncle Ben’s instant white rice mixed with a can of stewed tomatoes and getting compliments from my Dad (such a great and brave man). My quest for excellence in taste comes from my Philippine Aunt and her mother, who in retrospect, were both gourmet cooks.
My own first favorite culture cooking was Mediterranean. Then a tie between Latino and Asian. Now I find myself mixing them all up and loving it. I use wonton wrappers with Italian fillings and whole wheat pasta with Asian noodle sauces. I love mutza ball chicken soup and I dream of ways to use chipotle in adobo sauce. I have been in GA for 12 years and am in love with all their southern simple comfort foods. All this from a little Irish/Scottish girl originally from Boston who lived in a predominately Jewish neighborhood. It appear it is a small world after all…
