about me

I live in lower Michigan with my wonderful husband and two fantastic kids. I gave up teaching about 15 years ago so I could stay home with my children. I'm currently working part-time as a substitute teacher. I love to read, have fun with family and friends, stay active with running, soccer, golf, biking, hiking, and gardening. I loveeee to travel. I've been to all but one state in the U.S. - Alaska. I'm looking forward to international travel some day. Cooking has become a passion for me. I love to puruse cookbooks, watch the Food Network and try new recipes. I have way too many cookbooks! A few of my favorites are: Barefoot Contessa (any - but especially 'Family Style'),Rachael Ray 30-Minute Meals 2, Roasting by Barbara Kafka, Beyond Parsley & The Black Dog Summer on the Vineyard Cookbook.

Favorite Foods:

I love to cook just about everything. I like when I find recipes that are gourmet in presentation and taste but not too complicated. I love seafood and pasta (especially together). If I had to pick a regional favorite, it would be Mexican food..yum! My family doesn't have as varied of tastes as I do, so I'm always on the lookout for different chicken and beef recipes. Choosing a favorite restaurant is as difficult as narrowing down my favorite cookbooks! Currently, I'm a big fan of Bahama Breeze. I LOVE their almond encrusted tilapia and my kids are crazy about the coconut shrimp.
