about me

I am a great-grandmother who loves to cook,and love to try new recipes; I own over 300 cookbooks including recipes from ancient Rome (pretty good they are too!) I guess my alltime favourite cookbook is Mrs. Beeton's Household management (l86l)and the OLD versions of Joy of Cooking. There are so many things I have yet to try, and I only hope I live long enough to get at them.

Favorite Foods:

Beyond anything else I love pies of any kind especially fresh fruit pies. My family used to say that I made the best steak-and-kidney pie in the world...also my roast beef was always raved about. I love vegetables of all kinds except squash, which leaves me cold. I like making one-dish casserole types of dishes because I now am disabled with arthritis so try to save myself some labour.
