My very first dish was spaghetti, taught to me by my grandmother. Though very simple, it was good, honest food that was delicious. I am learning these days to go back to simplicity. I have a newfound respect for Chef Gordon Ramsay because he takes pride in food and keeps things simple. Since my first cooking experiences I have been hooked. Cooking is a passion, a way of life. If I could not cook, I could not live. I have learned so much from people here and their fabulous recipes, and I spend a great deal of time learning from Food Network and PBS. If I had it all to do again, I would have pursued my love and my passion of cooking as a profession. For now, I relish the idea of preparing succulent dishes for my family and friends!
My culinary influences include Chef Robert Irvine, Iron Chef Bobby Flay, and the Encyclopedia of Cookery himself, Alton Brown. The master of barbeque in my humble opinion is Mr. C. Stubblefield of Austin, Texas, whom most recognize simply as Stubb. His brand of sauces, marinades, and other products is an inspiration. If you are ever in Austin, Texas, stop by Stubbs Barbeque, hear some excellent gospel or blues, and enjoy some awesome food! There are so many excellent chefs that are an inspiration to us all, including the great chefs here on RecipeZaar!
I am a great lover of authentic Mexican, Southwestern, and Italian cuisines. I have recently discovered Greek and Mediteranian dishes, and I am looking forward to broadening my horizons with some African dishes.
I am especially a fan of Mike Garia's Sweet Cornbread recipe. It goes so well with so many Southern dishes. Mike is a member of RecipeZaar.com. Tasting is believing!
