about me

I was brought up with farming in my veins, and today have gone back to it full time ~ after being a nurse, a management analyst, a mother, and a sundry of other things throughout my lifetime.

I live on, and own "The Longmeadow Farm" in a small rural town in Maryland. Right now, since my 90 year old father still lives here too, we own cattle of which we also plant cattle corn, alfalfa, rye, and soybean in our long fields. I hope to get out of the cattle industry at some time, (as this takes a heck of a lot of time to care for them the way I do these animals. While here on "Longmeadow Farm" I am very particular about how "stressed" they might feel either from environmental stresses, (heat, dryness, extreme cold) or psychological "stresses" from being in close quarters, or having a lot of people or things stir them up. I know each of these cows & calves by sight, so that makes my job of keeping up with these 60 plus unique cattle just about a 24 hour day, (or so it feels like).



My recipes (most of them) always include some kind of story about the farm. Food is high on the list of priorities here, since we grow such much of it. From meats, to vegetables, to fruits, and even nuts we are truly blessed.

I adore the community of Recipezaar. Quite often, this is my fun outlet, and have been so happy to have so many wonderful friends on this site. I am so lucky to be co.hosting with MsSally a recipe tag game in "Safari Supper Club" called, http://www.recipezaar.com/bb/viewtopic.zsp?t=306168 - "Every Day is a Holiday" which has so many of our friends and is so fun none of us can stay away.
