about me

Anne Weaver founded The Very Vegetarian Society of Winston Salem in 1990. It is with great sadness that we have to say that Anne passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2007. We started this cookbook, so that we could continue to use her recipes. We hope that other people looking for vegan recipes might enjoy them as well.

Anne was inspired to start a local vegetarian group after attending Summerfest sponsored by the North American Vegetarian Society and listening to the wonderful speakers in attendance. She and several of our other members attend every year. You can read more about it here:

Favorite Foods:

Anne was a vegan, so her favorite dishes were ones without meat, fish, eggs, and dairy. She was also a member of a local produce-buying club.

Anne subscribed to the Nutrition Action Healthletter (NAH), published by the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI), an independent non-profit consumer health group founded in 1971. CSPI advocates honest food labeling and advertising, safer and more nutritious foods, and pro-health alcohol policies. CSPI's work is supported by NAH subscribers and foundation grants. CSPI accepts no government or industry funding. NAH, first published in 1974, accepts no advertising.
