about me

I'm 43, born in New England, raised in North Carolina, making a brief detour to Mississippi (to finish college), and Dallas, TX for nine years, where I met my husband, who ended up taking a job that brought me back to my beloved New England. He also taught me to cook (I was a former microwave queen), and now I'm hooked. I love the "New Basics" and "Simple Fare" cookbooks, among many, many others.

My stepdaughter is wonderful, beautiful, and so much fun to hang out with...thank goodness she lives nearby. She's a riot and we love seeing her as often as possible. DH and I don't have kids together, but we have three cats that we love and that amuse us to no end. We'd have dogs, too, but in New England weather, we'd fight endlessly about who's walking it in the bad winters!

I manage a group of technical writers for a software company which has offices in New England

DH and I are both getting very interested in golf and are taking lessons and playing when we can (not at all in the winter up here, though). We also enjoy canoeing, gardening, tennis, fishing, entertaining, exploring, and just hanging out on the deck with friends.

Favorite Foods:

Calamari, spinach, lemon, lamb, mint, oregano, pine nuts, picattas, marsalas, greek & italian food, good steaks, pork, and salmon. While I enjoy most cuisines, I'm struggling to get more of an appreciation of Chinese and Japanese cuisines (although I enjoy sushi and hot and sour soup).

I am allergic to crab. I don't particularly like the taste of raisins, turnips, or wax beans.

I will try almost anything, as long as it isn't orange. I can't stand the taste of it, although I can put up with the smell OK. Strangely enough, I do like the color (maybe because it was Frank Sinatra's favorite color, and I'm a huge fan of the man, his music, and the music of that era).
