I just recently retired after 43 years of service to a financial company which was sold and merged about 3 or 4 times during my tenure. I am so lucky to have survived during these many years. I firmly believe that I had an angel watching over me during all of these years.
I am so very happy now to be retired and to have time to devote to one of my favorite hobbies, Recipe Zaar. My DH is also retired. I joked with my associates in the office and said he would call and request that they come pick me up and take me back to the office. We are actually very happy!
I have been a member since October, 2006 but, I have not had sufficient time to utilize all of the the amenities associated with membership.
I have met several very talented and wonderful people within the Zaar family and look forward to meeting many more people during the coming months.
My mother was very limited in her knowledge of cooking and had very little exposure to today's ethnic cooking techniques. I was, therefore, unprepared, as a young bride in the early 60's to be creative in my cooking techniques.
I collected cookbooks in the early years, and I have many that I would not trade for a million dollars.
It is now very rewarding to me to be able to reach out and share my limited knowledge of cooking with so many people who have a wealth of knowledge and expertise in so many different cuisines.
I love animals and my DH and I raised a couple of very wonderful dogs during a 16 years span of time. The girls were sisters born in 1988. One was blond in color and had many allergies. She died in 1996. She was my dog and we shared a very wonderful bond during her years. The other died in 2004. She was DH's dog. We miss them very much but are too old and not willing to make sacrifices to care for another pet.
My DH, who has been retired since 1992, and I are looking forward to many rewarding happy months ahead where we both can be free to enjoy each other and to make many memories......
I love all types of foods. I am always open minded and have tried many different types of ethnic foods; however, I will never enjoy recipes with eggplant (I will substitute summer squash and/or zucchini) or recipes with artichokes (unless they are chopped beyond recognition). I also do not like carrots but I do use them chopped and blended into many recipes (like soup and casseroles) so that they are not recognized.
