about me

I am, well...me! I am a 24 year old woman who has recently learned that she enjoys to bake. Whether it be cakes, pies, etc., I will always give it a try. Since my mother did all the cooking, I never really had the inclination to try, and when I moved out of my parents house...well, it was a lot of take-out and fast food. Since joining Zaar, I've discovered so many tasty recipes that I could cook a different recipe every day for over three years. I'm definitely trying more cooking lately, and have been picking out recipes that are both freezable and healthy-ish (while still remaining tasty). My tastebuds no longer cringe at shrimp, and I've become a fan of hummus and pesto and homemade breads. I don't go out to eat as often, and I rarely get fast food anymore because I enjoy my own cooking better. I love to make meals, then freeze them in disposable plastic containers to make my own "frozen dinners."

When it comes to baking, I am an award winner. At my work, there are always bake-offs and contests, and I am the one who ranks supreme. Everyone loves to try to beat me, but I just don't let them Although many people always ask for my recipes (which I gladly print out and give to them--it wouldn't be right if I didn't). I tend to make cheesecake the most often, followed closely by scones, then finally brownies. But I will always try my hand at something new!

Favorite Foods:

My most requested recipe is oreo cheesecake http://www.recipezaar.com/12177. I have to say, also, that it is probably my favorite recipe to make. I also love to do OAMC! My freezer is filled with meals that I can just thaw and cook, or even simply cook from the freezer. I didn't even realize this was possible until I joined Zaar! My boyfriend always knows that when he is hungry, he can just go to the freezer or fridge and heat something up.

I want to start making other daily-type foods, like breads, pitas, spreads, etc. I like to know what I'm eating, so if I make it, I know it doesn't have all sorts of nasty chemicals in it. I'm a little nervous in the thought of doing it, but I know I can do it. (I just need to get some equipment that will help me out)
